CommunityWorks, part two, is coming up! Back in April, we had a very successful fundraiser for Brilliant Detroit. Together, we raised $700, which exceeded my expectations. So, I thought I’d launch another fundraising event with another local non-profit. This time, I chose Detroit Phoenix Center – more on them below.
Before we get to CommunityWorks, I have a couple housekeeping items.
I’m going to be ordering some new t-shirts, sweatshirts/hoodies. If you’d like to get some new BodyWorks swag, please let me know. The shirt color options are navy or black heather triblend. If you’d like one, just tell me a size, color, and style preference (t-shirt, crew neck sweatshirt, or hooded sweatshirt). The shirts are Bella Canvas. The sweatshirts and hoodies will either be Bella Canvas or Gildan softstyle.
Also, as we’re getting close to 2026 – I’m not sure how 2025 felt for you, but it sure went fast for me! – I’m already hearing about insurance changes from several of my patients. Please double check your insurance benefits. I’m only in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare. Deductibles, co-pays/co-insurance, and visit limits may change in 2026. I can only be on top of so many of the different plans that are out there – it is ultimately the patient’s responsibility to know their benefits.
On to CommunityWorks!
Over the last (almost) 15 years that BodyWorks has been around, I like to jump in and support local non-profits and charities. Sometimes that is in the form of a food drive, school supplies, fundraising, etc. This year, I’m trying a new way to raise some money, support a non-profit, and help my BodyWorks people out all at the same time.
First, let’s tackle the Who and When. On Wednesday, December 10 (2025) from 4pm to 5:30p, BodyWorks will be supporting Detroit Phoenix Center. The DPC provides resources to Detroit youth that are transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. They provide crisis housing, a drop-in center where kids can socialize with each other, mental health services, and employment services (among many other things!). I encourage you to visit their website and learn more about this amazing organization.
Second, to raise money, I will be offering adjustments only on a walk-in basis, no appointment necessary! All I’m asking is a $20 minimum donation to get adjusted. You can certainly give more if you like. Just stop in between 4pm and 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 10, and I’ll take care of you.
The fine details:
This one is important…this is only good for current patients that I have seen within the last 12 months and without any new injuries/accidents or other major health changes. The primary reason for this is because of lack of time. You can still take advantage of the $20 adjustment by setting up a regular appointment ahead of time with my typical charges and then coming in for a follow-up adjustment on December 10. If you have specific questions about your care, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Also, if you are in an active workers compensation or personal injury/auto case, I cannot see you for CommunityWorks day.
BodyWorks will match total donations up to $200.
Cash only, please! I would love to present them with a giant stack of cash!
Treats and Tea will be provided!
If you’re not feeling an adjustment, you can still donate…just stop by during the fundraising hours.
To recap: a low cost adjustment (remember no ART provided during CommunityWorks), and you get to help out a non-profit. ALL money raised will go to the DPC.
That’s all I have for now. Again, please reach out if you have any questions. I’d love for CommunityWorks to be a resounding success, but it can only be done with your involvement. Thank you all for your support over the years. CommunityWorks at BodyWorks couldn’t happen without you!
Looking forward to seeing you at your next appointment!
